I was born in 1975, in Ploiesti, Romania. I had my first contact with music in my uncle’s house, where I used to play on his upright piano, along with my cousins. Later on, I started playing with my grandfather’s mandolin.

Je suis né en 1975, à Ploiesti, en Roumanie. Le premier contact avec la musique fut dans la maison de mon oncle, ou je prenais avec mes cousins son piano comme un jouet. Plus tard, j’ai commencé à jouer de la mandoline appartenant à mon grand-père.

It all became more serious when I reached 15 years of age and I got to the rehearsal room of a local rock band. I got instantly fascinated with the incredible energy that emerged from that small basement where my friends were playing.

Tout est devenu plus sérieux à l’âge de 15 ans, quand je suis arrivé dans la salle de répète d’un groupe local de rock. Immédiatement j’ai été fasciné par la force de leur musique.

I went to my father’s workshop (he was a sculptor), I used a piece of wood lath, a broken skateboard, a few nails and some fishing line, and made myself a guitar. It only had 4 strings; it was “fretless”, almost impossible to tune… but I got something to play on.

Je suis allé dans l’atelier de mon père (il était sculpteur), ou j’ai improvisé une guitare avec une plaque cassée de skateboard, une lamelle en bois, des clous, et du fil de pêche. Elle avait seulement quatre cordes, elle était « fretless », presque impossible à accorder… mais j’avais mon instrument.

After a while, I convinced my father to buy me a guitar, a classical one – we only had access to electric instruments with considerable efforts – and that was the instrument I began to rehearse on, improvising most of the times.

Dans peu de temps après j’ai convaincu mon père de m’acheter une vraie guitare, une classique (on n’avait pas vraiment accès aux instruments électriques). J’ai commencé à jouer, en improvisant la plupart du temps.

At a certain point I bought a bass body with a functional pick-up, so I was able to build my first electric guitar, gluing the neck of the classical guitar on the newly bought bass body. In the same period of time, I succeeded in putting together various guitar amplifiers, all sorts of electronic devices – radio, tv, tape recorders… almost anything that comprised an audio amplifier. I built my first overdrive by tying electronic components with wire (didn’t have the patience to build the plate and glue the pieces on it), in a jungle of strings insulated with tape and fitted into a soap holder. Surprisingly enough, it worked.

J’ai acheté un corps de guitare basse, avec son micro. Avec ça, j’ai pu construire ma première guitare électrique, en collant le manche de ma guitare classique au corps nouvellement acheté. Au cours de la même période j’ai improvisé des amplis pour la guitare, en utilisant des anciens appareils électroniques – radios, tv, magnétophone. J’ai construit mon premier overdrive, où les composants électroniques étaient connectés par des fils (je n’avais pas la patience de fabriquer la plaque et coller les composants). Son aspect ressemblait à celui d’un hérisson, avec tous les fils qui sortaient de sa boîte. Mais, surprenant, il fonctionnait.

I believe that this first-timer period lasted about a year; after that, I was able to find an old Romanian electric guitar and I started to play with local bands and had a few concerts.

Après la première année, j’ai réussi à trouver une « vraie » guitare électrique ; j’ai commencé à jouer avec les groupes locaux et faire des concerts.

In 1995, I started, along with my best friend, a rock/ hardcore band named H8. I also played with musicians outside the scope of rock, as rap (Parazitii, K-gula, Bitza, BUG Mafia, Nimeni Altu, Undoo, Butch, Keri) and participated in a few pop/ electro projects.

En 1995, avec mon meilleur ami j’ai fait un groupe de rock / hardcore – H8. J’ai aussi joué pour des artistes rap de Roumanie (Parazitii, K-gula, Bitza, BUG Mafia, Nimeni Altu, Undoo, Butch, Keri), et j’ai participé aux différents projets pop / électro.

In 2000 I began working in a recording studio, where I started to learn recording techniques and how to use the software necessary for audio recording.

En 2000 j’ai travaillé dans un studio d’enregistrement, ou j’ai commencé à apprendre des hectiques et des logiciels d’enregistrement et d’édition musicale.

In 2005 I left for Gabon. After an adjusting period, I organized a rehearsal studio, where local and foreign artists gathered to play. I think this got me to a turning point in my musical education (and not only musical), the chance to play with a great deal of musicians from different musical and geographical areas.

En 2005 je suis parti au Gabon. Après une période d’adaptation, j’ai fait une salle de répète, ou j’ai réussi à rassembler des artistes locaux et étrangers. Je pense que cette période m’a apporté un grand plus dans mon développement musical (et pas seulement) – j’ai eu la chance de jouer avec plusieurs artistes, venant d’univers différents de la musique (et du monde).

I started a new band in Gabon, named DTP, collaborating with the rap group Movaizhaleine, while I helped, as technic, the Ekwatone group.

Au Gabon j’ai formé le groupe DTP, j’ai collaboré avec Movaizhaleine, et j’ai aidé à la technique le groupe Ekwatone.

I got back to Romania in 2015, so I was able to participate in H8 and Doar Atat concerts. I helped organizing one evening per week jam-sessions, to which we tried to bring artists from as various as possible areas of music.

En 2015 je suis revenu en Roumanie, ou j’ai participé aux concerts des groupes H8 et Doar Atat. J’ai aidé à l’organisation d’une soirée jam-session, ou nous avons essayé de rassembler des artistes des genres différents.

In 2017 I moved to France, where I performed in a few concerts with SBD.

En 2017 je suis arrivé en France, ou j’ai joué dans plusieurs concerts avec le groupe SBD.

In 2020 i started my solo project, Gabriel Radu Arnautu Live Show (Gabriel Rals) and in February 2021 i launched the first album, Wandering in my magic world.

En 2020 j’ai commencé mon projet solo, Gabriel Radu Arnautu Live Show (Gabriel Rals), et en février 2021 j’ai sorti mon premier album, Wandering my magic world.

I still write and record for various artists in Africa and Europe, and i work for my second solo album, which will be called Imperfect.

Je continue à composer et à enregistrer pour divers artistes d’Europe et d’Afrique, et je travaille pour mon deuxième album solo, qui s’appellerait Imperfect.
