In March 2023, I had a concert in Bucharest, where an old friend, who makes (very good) electronic music, came. After the concert, over a beer, he asked me why I didn’t make a pack of samples, since I am quite good at improvising… Initially, I said “NO”, as I usually do before thinking (a bad habit). After I got to France, and a few weeks passed, the idea of recording my improvisations kept coming back, persistently, a little today, again tomorrow, a week, two… until I said to myself, “that’s it, clearly I have to do this too.”
I started recording in May 2023 and finished the project at the beginning of August 2023. I didn’t follow any specific theme or style – I simply played, and in the end, after listening to the recordings, I tried to name and group the ideas as I thought they fit into a certain style. I played at different BPMs and in different keys, and I designed the project in such a way that it would have two types of samples – a harmony and a melodic part. I made 150 melody-harmony pairs, divided (imperfectly) into the styles of R&B, reggae, funk, rock, soul, fusion, ambient, and chill.
I recorded with two guitars, a Schecter Diamond and a Fender Stratocaster, a Marshall JMP1 preamp, a Radial J48 DI, and a MOTU M4 sound card – using Reaper for production.
I would be delighted to see that these ideas inspire you to create music.

En mars 2023, j’ai donné un concert à Bucarest, où est venu un ancien ami, qui fait de la (très bonne) musique électronique. Après le concert, autour d’une bière, il m’a demandé pourquoi je ne faisais pas un pack de samples, puisque j’ai une certaine facilité à improviser… Initialement, j’ai dit “NON”, comme je le fais d’habitude avant de réfléchir (une mauvaise habitude). Après quelques semaines, de retour en France, l’idée d’enregistrer mes improvisations revenait constamment, de manière insistante, un peu aujourd’hui, encore demain, une semaine, deux… jusqu’à ce que je me dise, “ça y est, clairement je dois aussi faire ça”.
J’ai commencé à enregistrer en mai 2023 et j’ai terminé le projet début août 2023. Je ne me suis pas guidé par un thème ou un style précis – j’ai simplement joué, et à la fin, en écoutant les enregistrements, j’ai essayé de nommer et de regrouper les idées selon ce que je pensais correspondre à un certain style. J’ai joué avec des différents tempos et dans différentes gammes, et j’ai conçu le projet de manière à ce qu’il ait deux types de samples – une harmonie et une partie mélodique. In martie 2023, am avut un concert la Bucuresti, la care a venit un prieten vechi, ce face (foarte bine) muzica electronica, Dupa concert, la o bere, ma intreaba de ce nu fac un pack de sample-uri, ca tot am usurinta de a improviza… Initial am zis “NU”, asa cum zic eu deobicei inainte de a gandi (un obicei prost). Dupa ce am ajuns in Franta, si au trecut cateva saptamani, ideea de a-mi inregistra improvitatiile revine, insistent, azi un pic, maine din nou, o saptamana, doua… pana cand imi zic “gata, clar trebuie sa fac si chestia asta”.
Am inceput sa inregistrez in mai 2023 si am terminat proiectul la inceputul lui august 2023. Nu m-am ghidat duca vreo tema anume, sau un stil – am cantat pur si simplu, iar la final, ascultand inregistrarile, am incercat sa denumesc si sa grupez ideile dupa cum am considerat eu ca se incadreaza intr-un anume stil. Am cantat pe BPM-uri diferite, si in game diferite, si am gandit proiectul de asa natura incat sa aiba doua tipuri de sample – o armonie, si o parte melodica. Am facut 150 de perechi melodie-armonie, impartite (imperfect) in stilurile R&B, reggae, funk, rock, soul, fusion, ambient si chill.
Am inregistrat cu doua chitari, un Schecter Diamond si un Fender Stratocaster, un preamplificator Marshall JMP1, un DI Radial J48 si o placa de sunet MOTU M4 – utilizand Reaper pentru productie.
M-ar bucura sa vad ca ideile astea va inspira sa creeati muzica.
